EXPLORING NINE ALTERNATIVE SPORTS
Keywords:
alternative sports, creativity, pedagogical innovation, physical educationSynopsis
The book Exploration of Nine Alternative Sports compiles nine alternative-sport proposals designed for school settings, aiming to expand physical educators’ didactic repertoire and provide meaningful, creative, and adaptable motor experiences across different environments.
The work results from a training process involving ninth-semester students in the Bachelor’s program in Physical Education and Sport at the University of the Llanos, within the Alternative Sports elective, and it is framed as a “disruptive pedagogy” that emphasizes innovation, creativity, and commitment to learning.
Each chapter explains the game’s internal logic and offers a practical set of components: definition, materials, playing-space dimensions, rules, scoring methods, and links to conventional sports. The proposals include Reboundball (throwing precision and rebound reading), Frisbee-ball (switching between ball and disc, fast decision-making), Rugnet (sequenced actions and net-based finishing), Strike Ball (foot and hand passing to knock down cones), Handhopp/HandHoop (collective circulation and vertical-hoop scoring), Badminshooter (precision within a circular area using a shuttlecock), Tag-ball (tagging via controlled throws and scoring through progression), Kapta (knocking down and rebuilding a tower through cooperation with explicit safety rules), and Hand-voley-run (defined roles, movement, and differential scoring for volleyball-inspired finishes).
